Cristiano Ronaldo has accused Manchester United of “betrayal” and claims he is being forced out of the club, expressing a lack of respect for manager Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo, who rejoined United from Juventus in August 2021 after a successful first stint, spoke with Piers Morgan for TalkTV. When asked if the club’s hierarchy was trying to push him out, he responded, “Yes, not only the coach [Ten Hag], but two or three others around the club. I felt betrayed.”
He added, “I feel some people don’t want me here, not just this year, but last year too.”
Ronaldo’s comments come after a controversial incident in October when he left the field before the end of a match against Tottenham after being left on the bench. Following that, he was excluded from the squad for the game against Chelsea.
Regarding Ten Hag, Ronaldo stated, “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t respect me, I’m never going to have respect for you.”
While Ten Hag previously called Ronaldo an “important player” for the squad, United has said they will respond to Ronaldo’s allegations of betrayal only after they have gathered all the facts.
